JP2Fish Fishing Guide Service
Panhandle Charter Fishing - Panama City, Florida
Thank
you for visiting my website. I hope you have a pleasant stay on the Worlds Most
Beautiful Beaches and catch a few fish while in Panama City, Florida. The water
around Panama City is normally very clear and blue. Light tackle and fly fishing
can be exciting and adventurous.
Light tackle fishing consists of many different types of fish and fishing.
While fishing in Panama City Florida, fishing the bays and flats, you can come
across many different species of fish. As a light tackle guide I believe in well
balanced equipment, presentation of the bait and knowing where the fish are found.
That is something I can offer you that few in the area can. As a native, there
are very few places in the waters around Panama City Florida that I have not fished.
I get followed by other guides on a regular basis. As for tackle, I prefer light
action rods with six or eight pound test while fishing for trout, reds, Spanish,
blues, pompano and flounder. When fishing for larger fish like grouper in the
bay, sharks and kings I usually bump it up to 12 to 15 pound test. What I do is
truly “light tackle guiding”.
I
have been fly fishing since I was 11. You can read my page about fly fishing by
clicking on that. I am a certified caster, have owned a fly shop, fished for trout
in small streams, fished the Caribbean catching bones, snook and tarpon and have
fished with the fly for countless other species including small mouth bass and
musky. I have caught my back country slam on the fly, both North Florida slam
and the normal, snook, tarpon, bonefish slam. I don’t think you will find
a more qualified or better instructor in the area when it comes to fly fishing.
Last, I always have quality fly fishing equipment on the boat. I have been a member
of the Orvis guide program for over ten years always having quality equipment
from them and other manufacturers like Temple Fork, Old Florida and Ross.
As
you contemplate the length of your trip I would like to make a suggestion. The
6 hour or ¾ day seems to work the best. Since everything is so close I
can customize your trip to do several different things like topwater action as
the sun is coming up and then live bait fishing later in the morning. For the
fly guy, early morning topwater or sight action and then, my favorite, throwing
a fly into a chum line to what ever swims up.
I invite you to read my website and my fishing reports. I was the first guide
with Cyberangler from the area, been with them for over ten years. I’ve
seen a lot of changes in the business a lot of guides come and go. I have hundreds
of return customers that continue to come back to me. If you would like to find
out why, just ask, I will give you some names and numbers. I am good at what I
do and this causes whispers up and down some of the docks. That’s ok….come
fish with me and you will discover what thousands of clients through the years
already know: Capt. James Pic is one of the best around!
