Duck Hunting Guide

A relatively unknown activity in the Panama City, Florida area is duck hunting. During the winter months many species of duck head for the Florida Panhandle and the waters surrounding Panama City to spend the winter.

Whether you want to go after wood ducks and fast flying ringnecks on the freshwater lakes or head to the bay for redheads, bluebills, greenwing teal and pintails, Captain J.P. has many years of duck hunting experience. Over the years I have taken 17 species of ducks.

The only duck hunting guide in the Florida Panhandle, Captain J.P. will guarantee the “opportunity” for you to shoot ducks or there will be no charge. It is not uncommon for parties to take their limits. Of course shooting skill is necessary.

Captain J.P. hunts out of a 17-foot G-III by Yamaha with a duck blind built onto the boat. Powered by a quality Yamaha 40 hp, your trip will be fast and comfortable.

Those who have time can take a “cast and blast” trip. Duck hunting in the morning with a light tackle or fly fishing trip in the afternoon for trout and redfish.

Cast and blast trips are becoming very popular and Captain J.P. is the only person offering this in Panama City, maybe even in all of the Panhandle of Florida.

You can call or e-mail for the dates of duck season in Florida. J.P. can provide you with the information needed to get your license, stamps and the equipment needed for a successful duck hunt. There are no cancellations for duck hunts.

Duck Hunt Policy

Duck hunts are $125 per hunter. A “hunter” is considered to be anyone taking a position in the hunt whether a shooter or not.

All duck hunters will be required to provide the following:

• Florida duck stamp and migratory bird stamp (free) and Federal duck stamp.
• Florida hunting license, resident or non-resident depending on your state of residence.
• Shotgun and steel shot in good working order.
• Appropriate camo, waders, face mask and clothing accessories.

Your hunt will be considered booked when half the fee is received. The remainder will be due no later than 4 (four) days prior to your hunt. There are no cancellations for duck hunts. Any cancellations more than 7 (seven) days prior to the hunt will not be required to pay the remainder of fee but will forfeit any deposit. Anyone without express permission from the guide not paying in full 4 (four) days prior to the hunt will be subject to losing the reservation. A specific time and place to meet will be given to the party 24 hours prior to the hunt. Be on time, ready to go.

Duck hunting is a fun sport. It requires knowledge of firearms and bird hunting. I am a very good duck hunter, the first in the area and the most knowledgeable by far. If you have never duck hunted and have no other bird hunting experience I would appreciate if you get experience elsewhere prior to hunting with me.
